"It happened at approximately 08:30 this morning at her place of work in Rubenstein Drive," police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller said.

"He entered the work premises and she came downstairs to the reception area. When she was down the stairs he produced a firearm and fired several shots, fatally wounding her."

The man jumped onto a motorbike and raced away from the scene.

Miller said there was CCTV footage which was handed over to police.

There was a supposed photo of the man circulating on social media but Miller said he could not confirm if it was him.

"We busy with follow-up investigations. We hoping to effect an arrest soon," he said.

According to the Pretoria East Rekord, the woman was a 33-year-old administrative clerk at Cura Health Insurance.

She was reportedly shot three times.

She apparently kicked the man out of their apartment two weeks ago when he allegedly started to abuse her.
