Fadiel Adams arrested after failing to report to police
MP Fadiel Adams was arrested in Cape Town on fraud and justice obstruction charges linked to the Sindiso Magaqa murder case after failing to surrender; he claims willingness to cooperate and alleges misconduct by Crime Intelligence.
Police have arrested the leader of the National Coloured Congress and Member of Parliament, Fadiel Adams, at his parliamentary village home in Cape Town.
He was sought on fraud and defeating the ends of justice charges linked to the murder case of ANC councillor Sindiso Magaqa.
Speaking on his way to the Grassy Park police station, Adams claimed he had indicated his willingness to cooperate.
“ I told Parliament that Sindiso Magaqa was killed with an AK-47 purchased with the proceeds of Crime Intelligence. The head of Crime Intelligence is Dumisani Khumalo, but I informed them of it a year ago.
“I’m about to be assaulted. I'm probably gonna get waterboarded. This is how it works. I'm telling you what's going to happen, but let them do their worst.”

Earlier on Tuesday, national police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that a warrant of arrest had been issued for Adams.
Mathe said police have visited several addresses linked to him, and arrangements were made through his legal representative for him to hand himself over at Cape Town Central Police Station on Monday.
However, he failed to honour the agreement and also did not appear in court in KwaZulu-Natal as expected.
National Coloured Congress secretary general Sakiena Frenchman said she had advised Adams to publicly clarify his position, warning that the saga could have an impact on his political profile.
She added that his first exposure to senior police figures was through the Police Portfolio Committee and that he had no prior personal connections with them.
Frenchman further explained that during Adams’ time in local government and subsequently as MP, individuals approached him with corruption-related complaints, which led him to take on an anti-corruption role.
