Fadiel Adams urged to hand himself over to police
The South African Police Service has urged National Coloured Congress leader Fadiel Adams to hand himself over to law enforcement authorities.
He is wanted in connection with fraud and obstructing the course of justice.
The case is being handled by the Political Killings Task Team, which is investigating alleged interference in the high-profile murder case of former ANC Youth League leader Sindiso Magaqa.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe has confirmed that a warrant of arrest has been issued for Adams.
Mathe says police have visited several addresses linked to him, and arrangements were made through his legal representative for him to hand himself over at Cape Town Central Police Station on May 4.
However, he failed to honour the agreement and also did not appear in court in KwaZulu-Natal as expected.
She has reiterated SAPS’ call for cooperation, stressing the seriousness of the matter.
"We urge Mr Adams to present himself at his nearest police station without delay. A warrant of arrest has been issued, and all efforts have been made to secure his cooperation. It is in his best interest to comply with law enforcement authorities."
SAPS has made it clear that it will continue its efforts to locate Adams, while calling on him to cooperate and allow the legal process to unfold.
