Three suspects aged 22, 31 and 37 have been arrested at various locations in Limpopo and in Gauteng following a farm attack during which an elderly woman was killed.

The 72-year old woman was shot dead, while her 82-year old husband was wounded. He is still receiving treatment in hospital.

Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects were found with a 9 mm pistol, ammunition, goods and cash alleged stolen from the house.

"A special joint intelligence-led operation made the major break through. We are still looking for a fourth suspect."

He added the suspects are expected to appear in the Bela-Bela Magistrates Court on Monday on charges that include murder and attempted murder.

Ngoepe added they believe the recently launched strategy to curb farm attacks, is proving to be successful.

"Our rural safety strategy has been rolled out through out the province to police stations. We are also engaging with farmers and other interested parties."
