Fishing trip ends in tragedy for elderly couple

An elderly man was killed and his wife seriously injured in an attack at a dam in Fochville on Saturday.
They were on a fishing trip when they were attacked in their tent next to the dam.
The couple, who are in their 60's, were attacked by two unknown suspects.
The suspects robbed the couple of their possessions and fled the scene on foot.
ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak says paramedics were called to the scene.
"At approximately 11pm on Saturday night, paramedics attended the scene where they found a man, believed to be 68-years-old, with multiple fatal injuries. A woman, believed to be 60-years-old, was found with various injuries and severely traumatised."

Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says no arrests have been made.
"Police in Wedela are investigating a case of attempted murder and murder following an incident in which a couple wo were camping near a dam were attacked. The man died and the women was seriously injured. She has been hospitalised. The suspects, two of them, robbed them of their possessions before fleeing on foot."
