Five killed in Vanderbijlpark, Potchefstroom crashes

In a separate crash, three people were killed in a head-on collision between two cars in Potchefstroom on Saturday afternoon.
Two men have been killed after the car they were travelling in collided against the concrete pillar of a bridge on the R57 in Vanderbijlpark.
The two were killed on Saturday night.
“The two men believed to be in their 30s were found entrapped and having suffered fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead on arrival," says ER24's Ross Campbell.
In a separate crash, three people were killed in a head-on collision between two cars in Potchefstroom on Saturday afternoon.
“Both male drivers were found to have suffered fatal injuries and were both declared dead on arrival. The front passenger of the Polo was found entrapped in the wreckage and the Fire Department used the jaws of life to extract him. A 28-year-old woman who was also injured has since lost her life bringing the death toll to three.
“Two male occupants were found in the back of the Polo with serious injuries. All the male patients are believed to be in their 30s, they were transported to the hospital for further care,” said Campbell.
Since the start of the festive season, 14 people were killed in a taxi crash in Free State on Saturday morning while nine were killed in Mpumalanga on Friday.
