Five nabbed with stolen goods worth over R500 000
Police have made a breakthrough after a robbery at a major clothing store in Gauteng.
Five suspects have been arrested following this weekend's robbery in Olivenhoutbosch.
Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says the suspects had been arrested at a flat in Wonderboom South on Monday.
"Goods valued at more than R500 000 were recovered by the members of the Soshanguve K9 Unit at Wonderboom South and five foreign nationals were arrested. They will be charged with possession of suspected stolen goods and a further charge of business robbery may be added as the investigation continues," Dlamini confirms.
Cellphones, chargers, earphones, pouches and sim cards were among the items stolen.
Dlamini says a laptop suspected to be used to unlock cellphones was also seized.
It is believed that the suspects are part of a syndicate dealing in stolen goods.
Gauteng provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Deliwe Delange says: "The arrest of these suspects may lead police to more syndicates dealing in stolen cellphones and the syndicates dealing in properties stolen during business robberies."
She has also instructed a thorough investigation relating to the involvement of foreign nationals in criminal activities in Gauteng.
