Floods keep Bevhula learners from school
Hundreds of learners from the Bevhula village near Malamulele, Limpopo, were unable to go to school due to flooding in the area this morning.
Councillor in the area, Richard Simango says more than 300 learners could not make their way to school, because the area is an island following recent heavy rains.
"They are using buses, but they can't go because the roads are bad."
Simango says the problem will be solved when the provincial government tars the roads in the area.
"Previously, there was no bridge. They built a bridge, but buses struggle on gravel roads," says Simango.
Simango says they have called on government to address the issue on several occasions.
"When it rains, people can't go to town, the clinic or schools. It's difficult for people to get out when it floods," says Simango.
