Forensic probe into Tegeta an important step
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
National Treasury has described a forensic investigation into coal contracts between Tegeta Exploration and Resources and Eskom as an "important step to take in ensuring that there's accountability".
Treasury yesterday announced Finance Minister Malusi Gigiaba has given instruction for the forensic investigation to be instituted into Tegeta, dually owned by the Guptas and President Jacob Zuma's son Duduzane.
"DG (Director General) signed off for the forensic investigation on the 26th of July 2017," reads a statement by Treasury.
"Treasury has reviewed the enforce-ability of the report and the report sent to SCOPA still stands."
Gigaba's spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete says the investigation will look into certain elements of the deals around the use of public funds.
