Former Emfuleni fleet manager out on bail
Former Emfuleni fleet manager Lerato Mpholo has been granted R25 000 bail following his appearance at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Mpholo faces allegations linked to an irregular municipal vehicle fleet tender, where about R16 million was reportedly paid to a service provider for the delivery of 18 vehicles, including UD trucks and bakkies.
Investigations have revealed that only seven of the vehicles were delivered, despite the alleged full payment.
The 42-year-old ex-municipal official facing Schedule 5 charges was given two conditions for his bail that prohibit him from possessing a passport and from leaving Gauteng or travelling outside South Africa.
The case has been postponed to 29 September while the State continues with its investigations.
