Former Eskom contractor appears in London Court
A former Eskom contractor, Michael Harry Lomas, appeared before the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Thursday.
His court appearance marks the beginning of his extradition to South Africa.
Lomas was arrested last week Thursday.
Investigating Directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka says Lomas’ arrest comes after months of talks with UK authorities on fraud and corruption he allegedly committed as an Eskom contractor.

“Eskom paid R745m Tubular Construction Projects. This exposed the state-owned entity to R1.4b as per the escalation of the contract.”
Lomas was granted bail of £100000 (R 1.7million) and he further submitted additional surety in the sum of £250000 (about R4.3million).
The matter will return to court on 20 May for case management.
