[FULL REPORT]: Ramaphosa releases SIU report into Digital Vibes saga
President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorised the publication of the final Special Investigating Unit (SIU) report into the Health department's irregular awarding of communication tender to Digital Vibes.
Explosive claims of corruption surfaced earlier this year at the National Department of Health, leading to the investigation by the SIU.
Digital Vibes scored an R150 million-rand irregular tender which was paid over a period of one year.
Ramaphosa received the report in early July 2021.
Presidency spokesperson Tyrone Seale says the report was released in the interest of fairness and in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA).
“The Presidency subsequently sent third-party notices to all persons or entities referred to in the report, so they could have an opportunity to object to its publication or part thereof.
This was done in the interest of fairness and in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), following a number of PAIA applications by persons and parties who wished to have sight of the report.”
Head of the SIU, Advocate Andy Mothibi, says the report contains the outcomes and findings.
“The SIU received allegations from a whistle-blower regarding potential irregularities in the award by the NDOH of the NHI media campaign and the subsequent extension and variation thereof to include services regarding the Covid-19 media campaign.”
It was also alleged by the whistle-blower that former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize had a vested interest in the appointment of Digital Vibes and that the appointment of Digital Vibes by the NDOH had been irregular.”
