Gauteng residents have told of their panic as a major storm hit the province on Monday.
Jacaranda FM News accompanied Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba on a visit to areas badly affected by the heavy downpour, damaging winds and hail.
Residents of Ruimsig and Zandspruit recall how they ran for cover as trees were uprooted, falling onto their zinc homes.
At the Zandspruit informal settlement, residents are picking up the pieces and attempting to rebuild their shacks.

Lerato Kekana says the shack she lives in was hit by a tree.
"All my belongings have been damaged and lost in the storm," she says.
The 45-year-old says the mayor's visit gives her hope that the city will provide much-needed assistance.

A man, who only wants to be identified as William, says two of his workers were injured.
He owns a spaza shop at the informal settlement in Zandspruit.
"The two guys who are working for me - were inside the shop at the time of the storm. They were found far from the container. They are badly injured," William explains.
