This follows a recent attack on an ambulance crew that was responding to a call in Angelo informal settlement in Boksburg.

The crew from Green Angels ambulance were robbed of their belongings at gunpoint while waiting for a security escort at a local filling station.

Spokesperson Motalatale Modiba says this year alone more than ten attacks on ambulance crews have been reported.

"These incidents not only put the lives of the Green Angels in danger but make it difficult for them to provide emergency medical services to those who desperately need them.

"Incidents include amongst others, an attempted sexual assault, and high jacking, damage to an ambulance after being hit with stones, and armed robbery where personal belongings such as cell phones, wallets, and bags were taken."

No arrests have been made.

A total of 12 incidents were recorded in 2021.
