Gautrain has announced a holiday parking special for its commuters from Tuesday until 31 July.
Gautrain spokesperson Kesagee Nayager says the promotion is designed to provide convenience and cost savings for train passengers during the busy holiday period.
"We’re excited to offer this incredible promotion to our customers during the upcoming school holidays. With parking fees reduced to just R1.00, and it’s a great opportunity for passengers to save money and enjoy a hassle-free travel experience. "
She adds that passengers heading to OR Tambo International Airport can take advantage of a complimentary luggage wrapping service at Sandton Station.
"Whether you’re travelling for leisure or business, we encourage you to park at any Gautrain station, get your bags wrapped for free, and hop on the train to your destination."
The promotion comes amid a drastic drop in the number of commuters making use of the Gautrain services.
Over the past years, there has been a five-million-commuter drop, with passenger numbers dropping from 13.9 million in 2019 to 7.9 million in 2024.
