Gautrain service disrupted
Updated | By JacaNews
The Gautrain service between Pretoria and Hatfield has been disrupted due to an overhead line being damaged.
No trains are operating between the stations after a truck fell onto the train lines on Saturday morning.
One person was critically injured.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha says the truck driver was critically injured and transported to a private medical facility for treatment.
"The exact cause of the incident is unclear at this stage. Clean-up operations are still underway. It's expected to take quite some time before the scene is cleared."
Gautrain officials say technicians are assessing the extent of the damage.
"We can confirm no trains were involved in the incident. Our technical team is working to restore the service between these two stations," says Gautrain spokesperson Kesagee Nayager.
A bus service is expected to operate between Pretoria and Hatfield stations during the service disruption.
