GDE ‘disappointed’ after Pretoria Girls’ fails to share racism case report
Updated | By Masechaba Sefularo
The Gauteng education department has said it’s not in possession of the report that allegedly cleared 12 Pretoria Girls High pupils of misconduct.
This comes amid news reports that a process by the School Governing Body, found the pupils not guilty after they were suspended for allegedly sharing offensive message about their black counterparts in a secret Whatsapp group.
According to the reports, the eight prefects in the group who were stripped of their titles have also been reinstated.
“As the department we are quite disappointed by the way the school has treated us. They know that this matter has been in public space, and we don’t even have an official report on the outcome of their disciplinary process.
“Our problem is, why would they not want to give us the report?” said GDE spokesperson Steve Mabona.
He added that they would wait to receive the report from the school before making any further comments.
