Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba says the department had valid reasons to naturalise four Gupta family members in 2015.

The Portfolio Committee in Home Affairs is investigating the matter and says information given by the department is insufficient.

The committee's chairperson Hlomane Chauke says there are gaps in the information made available by the department.

He adds the committee has set aside three days, from the 11th of September,  for Gigaba to answer questions in Parliament.

"It is clear that the information that the committee have doesn't really sufficiently help us make a conclusion," says Chauke.

He says the department's director-general Thulani Mavuso and the minister will be called to appear in front of the committee.
