Gigaba: Mngoma using Zondo commission to solicit divorce settlement
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Former minister Malusi Gigaba has accused his estranged wife Norma Mngoma of lying to the State Capture Commission of Inquiry in order to solicit a divorce settlement from him.
Gigaba was back at the commission on Thursday night.
He admitted that the divorce proceedings between the high-profile couple have been bitter.
Mngoma recently appeared at the commission and corroborated the evidence of other witnesses who told the commission that Gigaba visited the Gupta home and received lots of money from them.
She said Ajay Gupta funded the extension and renovation of Gigaba's late father's house in KwaZulu-Natal and helped his sister Nozipho get out of debt.
"She claims in her affidavit that she is the one who initiated the process of divorce and I prove in my one of the annexures that in fact, that is not true,” Gigaba told the commission.

“The process of that divorce involves, in my opinion, great bitterness about the settlement that is probable under the contract we are married.
"And I thought the commission in some instances and to a greater extent turned into a forum to solicit a settlement. To canvass issues that need to be canvassed during the divorce process.
“You are also dealing with a case of extensive lies, very extensive lies that characterise the personality who presented the affidavit.”
