Addressing the first ever Open Tender Seminar in Midrand, Gordhan said the summons was delivered this morning.

"Not having found me at home, they proceeded to go the Treasury and I'm not sure what had happened there. Given the hostility, they might not have been given a cup of tea," Gordhan said.

This comes amid the high level investigation into the so-called SARS rogue unit.

"I expect that I will be at some stage handed a summons to appear in court on, I believe, 2 November. A date has been set to collect my fingerprints. They have been in the system for a long time. I suppose they need to freshen it up in some way," he said.

Gordhan asked those attending the seminar to question who the Hawks were serving.

National Director of Public Prosecutions Shaun Abrahams confirmed Gordhan's summons as well as those of former SARS Commissioner Oupa Magashula and former Deputy Commissioner Ivan Pillay at a press briefing in Pretoria.

The summonses are in connection with the pay-out related to Pillay's early retirement.
