Govt manufactured Eskom problems to privatise it, says Malema

EFF leader Julius Malema has accused the government of manufacturing Eskom problems as part of its plan to get it privatised.
The country has been facing load shedding problems for nearly a month with varying stages of rolling blackouts throughout the day.
Malema briefed the media at the party's headquarters in Marshalltown on Thursday.
He lambasted President Cyril Ramaphosa for deliberately misleading the nation about the state of Eskom.
“What is evident from the electricity crisis in South Africa is that the former liberation movement, under its current misguidance of a puppet president, is on a path to destroy Eskom in the same way they are destroying all other strategic State-Owned Companies,” he says.
“The sitting government has manufactured the Eskom electricity crisis because they want to create space for independent power producers (IPPs), which are largely companies from the West, working with close friends, handlers, and family members of the sitting President.
“The ultimate aim is to destroy and then privatize Eskom, something the EFF will never agree to,” says Malema.
Malema says the EFF will work closely with China and Russia to seek alternative energy solutions.
“In seeking the ultimate energy and electricity solutions, we are going to work closely with China and Russia because they have demonstrated thus far that they have superior energy alternatives. Ramaphosa will leave very soon, and we will restore our political and economic partnerships and common prosperity.”
