This comes as protests against undocumented foreign nationals are expected to be held next week, on Tuesday, across the country.

Protesters are calling for undocumented foreign nationals to be deported.

Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi briefed the media in Pretoria on Friday.

"The 30th of June is a normal working day. It is not a shutdown or a stay-away. Employees are expected to report for work, while those in the transport sector are expected to continue operating as usual.

"Likewise, all businesses are expected to continue with their normal operations," she added

The Minister also called on the protesters not to take the law into their hands.

"We further reiterate that no unauthorized person is permitted to demand documentation or proof of nationality from anyone," she said.

Kubayi also warned against misinformation and disinformation on social media, which fuel attacks on foreign nationals and damage South Africa’s international standing.

The Minister also said that other countries have voluntarily repatriated their nationals from South Africa.
