An 11-year-old girl died after she was knocked down by a teacher in Soshanguve on Wednesday.
The pupil was rushed to a local clinic but succumbed to her injuries while she was receiving medical treatment.
The grade 6 pupil was allegedly knocked down by a teacher from Arethabeng Primary School in Soshanguve.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the girl attended Raikana Primary School.
Following the death of more than a dozen learners across the province since the start of the year, Lesufi says the time has come to call for divine intervention.
Lesufi also expressed shock at the alleged rape of a pupil living with a disability at Ecaleni School in Tembisa.
A 17-year-old pupil, who is completing his vocational training, followed a 15-year-old autism learner behind the classroom, and raped her.

“An assistant teacher saw the perpetrator coming from behind the classroom zipping up his pants and the victim was also seen pulling up her pants.”
He was arrested and later released.
Phycologists will be deployed to both schools.
