Green ID book still valid
The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has rubbished reports that the green bar-coded ID book will be no longer be valid.
Social media has been abuzz with reports that the ID book would be discontinued at the end of March 2018.
DHA spokesperson Thabo Mokgola says there has been no such an announcement.

"We wish to make it clear that the green ID book remains a legal form of identification and will continue to be until we rolled out the life capture system to all Home Affairs offices, to enable South Africans to be able to apply for their smart ID cards at their nearest Home Affairs offices.
