Groblersdal man in court for assaulting teen at mall
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
A 50-year-old man from Groblersdal is set to appear in a local court in connection with the assault of a 16-year-old boy at a shopping mall.
He is expected to appear in the Groblersdal Magistrate's Court on Friday morning.
The suspect is facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and the unlawful pointing of a firearm.
The man was arrested after being caught on camera repeatedly kicking the teenager as his friends plead for mercy.
Limpopo police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says the assault was sparked by an incident at a local fish and chips outlet where the boy had asked the man to pass him the salt.
An argument then erupted over who should use the seasoning first.
The man also pointed a firearm at the teenager.
