Answers demanded for Gupta Plane scandal
Lawyers for Lt-Colonels Christine Anderson and Stefan van Zyl will approach a high court if the army does not make a decision about their prosecution over the Gupta controversy soon, Beeld reported on Wednesday.
According to a legal letter sent to the SA National Defence Force, which Beeld said it saw, the matter has dragged on for 18 months.
Last October the army said their lawyers would soon be informed of the director of military prosecutions' decision.
They were allegedly involved in the landing of a private jet carrying guests to a wedding in the family of wealthy business family the Guptas, at the Waterkloof Air Force base in Tshwane, Pretoria.
There has been no indication of the decision yet.
"The delay is unreasonable and affects our clients' rights in terms of Constitutional provisions (that everybody is entitled to a speedy trial)," said the letter.
Their lawyers want a decision within seven days and for the matter to be concluded after 30 days.
Anderson retired last year, but the career of Van Zyl had come to a standstill, said Pikkie Greeff, of the SA National Defence Union.
Beeld said it could not obtain comment from the SANDF.
