Hawks nab 13 Limpopo officials for corruption
The Hawks arrested 13 officials on Monday, including senior officials and company directors, at the Mogalakwena Municipal offices in Limpopo.
It’s alleged the officials received gratification from services providers and that other companies were paid money for services not rendered.
Spokesperson for Hawks in the province Matimba Maluleke says the municipality suffered a loss of over R15 million due to the corruption.
“During the operation, a BMW 1 series belonging to the girlfriend of one of the suspects was seized as an affected gift.
“The message that crime does not pay will soon be appreciated,” he added.
The Hawks say more arrests are expected in the ongoing investigation.
