Gumede questioned the value for money provided by private medical aid schemes to patients and health care professionals at the Board of the Council of Medical Schemes on Thursday.

Medical practitioners accused medical aids of racial profiling, blacklisting of doctors, and keeping a list of health professionals, spy cameras, intimidation and medical aid schemes failing to pay their claims.

"We say no to vigilantism no matter how deep your pockets are and who you are. We say yes to the rule of law, everybody should be equal before the law," says Dr Gumede.
