Residents from Aracdia all the way to Gezina have no electricity after various trips at substantions.

The City says the CBD is the only area in region 3 not affected by the power outage.

Spokesperson Selby Bokaba says there's no indication when power will be fully restored.

"It's terrible, terrible. Our substations get affected, we experience a lot of trips, and these are some of the reasons that have led to power outages. This rain is not giving up so this makes the restoration period longer."

Bokaba added all their teams have been deployed and are on stand-by.

"You can imagine that it is a little difficult for our technicians and electricians to restore power speedily due to the weather conditions."

"We have to take special precautions due to the unfavourable weather conditions and will update our customers as the areas are switched back on," adds Bokaba.

Meanwhile, SA Weather Services' forecaster Khumsa Masizana says some areas in the province have already recorded more than 100mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours.
