Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
The City of Tshwane says plans are underway to rehabilitate parts of the Hennops River and the Centurion Lake.
This was confirmed by the city's MMC for Environment and Agriculture Management Dana Wannenburg.
On Wednesday, the city started removing the sluice gates of the Centurion Lake at the Hendrik Verwoerd bridge.

"This will increase the free flow of water through the lake and get the drainage and desiltation process of the lake underway," said Wennenburg.
He said over the past decade, more than 50 000 cubic meters of sediment has accumulated in the lake.
