Hero or villain? SA opposition parties react to Mugabe's death
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
The death of former Zimbabwean President, Robert Muagbe has been met with mixed reactions from South African political parties.
The 95-year-old died on Friday in Singapore where he was receiving medical treatment.
Mugabe leaves behind a contested legacy having liberated his people from whites-only rule, however, later blamed for the country's economic fall from grace.
Democratic Alliance (DA) spokesperson, Solly Malatsi says the Zanu-PF leader ultimately defied and abandoned democratic ideals during his presidency.
"He will be remembered for his conflicting legacy, both as a liberator who brought democracy into Zimbabwe and ultimately an oppressor of the people of Zimbabwe," says Malatsi.
However, Bantu Holomisa, United Democratic Movement (UDM) president, recalls the late former president as a welcoming leader.

We join the world and the continent in saluting the formidability and bravery of President Robert Mugabe at the face of imperialists with their regime change agenda on Zimbabwe.
