High Court dismisses Clicks application to stop EFF protests

The High Court has dismissed an application by Clicks to stop the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) from protesting and closing down its stores.
The court dismissed the application with costs.
EFF spokesperson Vuyani Pambo says the ruling has vindicated the decision by the party to protest at the health and beauty retailers’ 800 stores.
“Clicks made an irrational and silly attempt to prevent the EFF from practising its constitutional right to protest. Their approach to the courts was nothing but a waste of time of our judiciary at a time when it has far more important matters before it.”

The EFF mobilised its members to shut down Clicks stores around the country following an ad campaign which depicted black people’s hair as “dry, damaged, frizzy and dull” and people’s hair as “normal”.
The party subsequently gave the company a list of demands, including a demand that it must fire the company which produced the ad campaign.
“Their racism will cost them harshly and the EFF will ensure no Clicks store operates for the next five days unless our demands are met,” says Pambo.
