Hijacking of passenger train ‘puts lives at risk’ - Prasa

Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has slammed the hijacking of passenger train in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday as a complete waste of taxpayers’ money.
An unknown number of suspects stole an empty passenger train before driving it from eMkhomazi to Umgababa.
Prasa spokesperson Nana Zenani says details are sketchy and the incident is being probed.
She says the people who hijacked the train not only put their own lives at stake but also those of commuters.
"Apart from the fact that whoever committed this heinous crime had put themselves and their lives at risk but the lives of many other trains that are running on the line.
"I think that it should not be allowed to continue as a trend, that it should be condemned and that whoever has any information should come forward because the risk of almost approximately 200 people in a train as at 100% when you get people who are untrained and doing this as fun or as a criminal behaviour."
