A holy trail - Political parties take election campaigning to church
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
Leaders of various political parties are attending church in their numbers to canvass for votes ahead of the May 8 polls.
Deputy President David Mabuza is set to join thousands of congregants at the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) in Moria, Limpopo on Sunday to observe the Easter Sunday pilgrimage.
Other political parties are also visiting various churches across the country this Easter weekend.
Mabuza will be joined by several other delegates from the ANC, including Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha.
"As the elections team nationally, we took a decision to have all our leaders of ANC as well as the leadership of the government of the republic as well as all provinces and municipalities to join our congregations and our population as they celebrate Easter weekend," said ANC spokesperson Dakota Legoete.
The ANC has also sent its condolences to those affected by the roof collapse at the Pentacostal Church in Dlangubo, Empangeni.
Thirteen people were killed on Thursday night ahead of the Passover service.
The roof is believed to have given way under heavy and persistent rain.
Limpopo officials say they expect traffic volumes to peak after midday and have urged motorists to keep safe on the roads.
