Home Affairs closes shop due to blackout
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The Department of Home Affairs says it is experiencing system downtime due to power supply outage at the State Information Technology Agency (Sita) on Friday.
The power outage has affected operations of the department nationwide.
Home Affairs' Thabo Mokgola says the department’s offices are unable to offer services for birth, marriages, and death certificate services.
He adds this includes applications and collections of Smart ID cards and passports.
"Our technicians, as well as those from Sita, are looking into the problem," says Mokgola.
The department is uncertain when the system will be back in operation.
