The issuing of birth, marriages and death certificates, as well as applications for Smart ID cards and passports, were affected by the power outage.
“We expected that come Monday morning it will be business as usual,” says acting director-general Thulani Mavuso.
Mavuso says cable theft was behind the power outage.
“We are told by the City of Tshwane that there were cables that were stolen around the Highveld area so hence the power supply was affected.”
