The IFP ‘structured on the ideas of the ANC’, says Buthelezi
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi says they will gladly form a coalition government with the African National Congress (ANC) should the opportunity arise.
"The IFP is structured on the ideas of the ANC, that’s why we are the same colours," Buthelezi said at a media briefing in Durban on Monday.
He adds, although allegations of unlawful conduct were levelled against leaders of the ANC, the ruling party is on a path of renewal.
The IFP managed to secure 14 seats in the National Assembly during the sixth democratic elections.
This is up from the 10 seats it secured in the 2014 elections.
