Increase in petrol, diesel prices to add to consumer woes
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
Motorists are expected to pay more for both grades of petrol and diesel from Wednesday.
It will cost 29 cents more to fill up on a litre of 93 octane petrol, while 95 octane users will pay 26 cents more a litre.
Diesel will increase by at least 41 cents a litre.
Meanwhile illuminating paraffin will retail for an additional 36 cents a litre.
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced the latest fuel price adjustments on Monday.
Department spokesperson Robert Maake says the main reasons for the fuel price adjustments include increased oil prices.
“The average Brent Crude oil price increased from 66.00USD to 73.00USD per barrel during the period under review.
“The movement in international refined petroleum product prices followed the increasing trend in crude oil prices,” Maake adds.
