'It was a horrible experience' - AfriForum's Ernst Roets on deadly Spur Centurion shooting
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
AfriForum's Ernst Roets has described the armed robbery at Lifestyle Centre Spur in Centurion on Sunday evening as a horrible experience for him and his family.
Roets was celebrating his son's birthday when a group of armed men stormed the restaurant robbing the store.
"On our way out, an armed gang came in and started robbing the store and a shooting took place, an off-duty police officer was there with his firearm, and several shots were fired. One robber was shot and killed. It was a very horrible experience to go through especially for children."
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Sello said they are investigating a case of business robbery.
"Four men tried to rob a local restaurant in centurion, the suspects entered the restaurant approaching the store manager at gunpoint, and the security officer noticed this and swiftly reacted, fatally shooting the suspect while the other three fled the scene."
My family and I were in Lifestyle Centre Spur in Centurion tonight to celebrate my son's birthday. As we approached the door to leave, an armed gang started to rob the place. A shooting broke out and one suspect was shot dead by an off-duty police officer. We are okay.
