JMPD recruiting 1500 new cops

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) is looking for 1 500 men and women to join the service.

The city says applicants will undergo training, and if completed successfully, would form part of Joburg's law enforcement authorities. 



The recruitment of new officers is part of mayor Herman Mashaba's promise to enhance visible policing. The city says the recruitment drive will also create employment and allow residents to contribute to society.

 

Applicant must be:

A South African citizen residing in the jurisdiction of Johannesburg,

Between the age of 18 to 35 years old,

In possession of a valid Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent),

Proficient in English,

In possession of a valid code B manual transmission driver's licence,

Physically and mentally fit and be able to subject successfully complete a pre-training fitness test (including a 2,4 km run),

Cleared of and have no criminal record and/or civil judgment relating to fraud and/or corruption, and

Prepared to carry a firearm and perform duties in uniform.

 

Application must be handed in personally at 343 Kent Avenue, Randburg.
