The appointment of Mlambo by President Cyril Ramaphosa is effective from 1 August and follows the retirement of Mbuyiseni Madlanga.

He previously served as Judge President of the Gauteng Division of the High Court.

Judges Matter spokesperson Mbekezeli Benjamin said Mlambo brings a wealth of experience in the judiciary at the leadership and management level.

He said under Mlambo, they hope for the judiciary to manage resources that go to the courts.

“This includes the increase in the number of judges, making sure that the infrastructure of our courts is taken care of, including the remuneration and other issues relating to the compensation of judges and magistrates,” said Benjamin.
