A Kariega schoolboy has died after being stabbed while walking to school with friends.
Police spokesperson Gerda Swart has identified the 15-year-old as Ferguson Volminck.
She said the teenager was approached by a group and was stabbed in the chest while on his way to school on Wednesday morning.
Swart said his father, who rushed to the scene on McCarthy Street close to the school, rushed the boy to the hospital where he passed away.
“The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage. A case of murder is being investigated by SAPS Kamesh Detectives,” she said.
No arrests have been made.
