Klipspruit school's governing body to be dissolved
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The process to dissolve the Student Governing Body (SGB) of the Klipspruit West Secondary School in Eldorado Park is underway.
Schooling has been disrupted due to a protest action over the appointment of a black principal.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi paid the school a visit yesterday.
"There is a need to promote diversity. Communities deserve better. You must have sense of progress in whatever you do in the school," the department's spokesperson Steve Mabona says.
Parents are reportedly claiming that their children are being victimised by black teachers.
Mabona says it was inevitable that the current SGB be dissolved.
"The MEC has emphasised that the SGB has a responsibility to run functional schools and educators must accelerate teaching and learning without favour and resist to encourage any forms of racism," Mabona says.
