Knife-wielding suspect rapes woman in Marikana
A 20-year-old woman, carrying a baby on her back, has been raped in Marikana near Rustenburg, North West police said on Friday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the woman was raped on Thursday at about 7am.
“It is alleged that the victim was on her way to her boyfriend’s workplace with her baby when she was approached by the suspect who was armed with a knife,” said Moleko.
“The suspect allegedly forced her to the nearby bushes where he raped her before fleeing the scene on foot.
“At this stage, police cannot determine how the rape happened as the woman had a baby on her back. More information will be gathered from the victim after she had recovered from her trauma,” said Moleko. -ANA
