KwaMashu traditional healer arrested for triple murder
Six people have now been charged in the case, with the matter against the previously arrested accused set to continue in the Durban High Court.
The police’s Political Killings Task Team has arrested a traditional healer in KwaMashu, north of Durban.
Officials say he was wanted in connection with the deaths of ANC Youth League member, Thamsanqa Gcabashe and metro police officers Lindokuhle Madonsela and Ndumiso Thusi.
Conspiracy charges
The suspect is accused of orchestrating their murders in May and June 2020.
National police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, says Gcabashe was shot and killed outside his home in the Mpumalanga township.
Mathe says investigations later revealed that Gcabashe was not the intended target but was allegedly killed after the hitmen mistook him for Madonsela.
“To date, six individuals have been charged in connection with the murders, including ANC branch committee member from Hammersdale, Holi Shauzi. The accused face charges relating to murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
“The case against the five previously arrested accused has been postponed for pretrial proceedings in the Durban High Court,” she added.
