Lesufi: ANC has 19 months to recover before polls

The ANC’s new Gauteng chairperson Panyaza Lesufi says the party has 19 months to prepare for the next elections in 2024.
Lesufi was speaking at the ANC’s Gauteng provincial conference in Benoni on the East Rand on Sunday.
The ANC has been losing ground in Gauteng over the past few elections, with many predicting it could dip below 50% during the general election in 2024.
Lesufi told delegates at the conference he wants to focus on the energy crisis, lawlessness and ensuring the state is able to deliver services.
“We have 19 months to recover and prepare for what people say it's going to be a tough election in 2024.
"There are three critical issues that we cannot lose focus on, firstly lawlessness the fact that we just woke up to almost 15 people killed demonstrate that our people are not protected.
“Secondly the energy crisis along with the cost of living, and lastly making sure that the state can deliver services.”
