Lesufi, Mathabatha meet to discuss Gauteng to Limpopo rail link
Updated | By Martine van der Walt Ehlers
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and his Limpopo counterpart, Stanley Mathabatha, met on Wednesday to discuss a new rail network to link the two provinces.

The meeting followed Lesufi's commitment in his maiden State of the Province Address in February to start the process of linking Gauteng and Limpopo.
"Once fully operational, the Limpopo to Gauteng rail link will alleviate the traffic congestion between the two provinces, especially during Easter and festive holidays," said Lesufi.
"The project will also stimulate economic growth."
The rail network will also transport commodities to various regional and domestic markets.
Financial institutions have already shown interest in funding the project, Lesufi said.
