Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says he wants to delay the reopening of a school on the West Rand due an outbreak of Covid-19.
Lesufi said on Tuesday that the request for a delay comes after 162 minors in the immediate area tested positive for coronavirus.

National schools are expected to open on Monday after they were abruptly closed in March due the coronavirus pandemic.
Lesufi visited several schools in Tshwane on Tuesday to check on their readiness to resume the academic year.
He warned that no school will be exempted from complying with health and safety regulations.
''Yesterday I was in Sandton and now I am in Tshwane. This week we are going to check the private schools as well, we have to be convinced that all the private are complying.
''This decision to reopen schools has been led by health authorities and health experts and it was never a ministerial decision by the Department of Education."
The provincial department has previously said it would provide support to parents who prefer to home school their children amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
