Last week Thursday parents shut down the school demanding a meeting with officials from the Department of Education.

Parents closed down the school over allegations of sexual assault against teachers, discrimination, lack of safety, and low-quality education.

The department's spokesperson Steve Mabona says they want the school to reopen to address the issues.

"The school's gates must be open so that we have learners and teachers in the classroom, we will be able to have the meetings and address the complaints. If they don't agree to open the gates we have to continue with the process of seeking a court interdict that will make sure that parents are not closing the school, that is the process that we are finalising."

Meanwhile, one of the concerned parents at the school Veronica Marian, says police are also probing a case of sexual assault.

“For some time now the learners and the parents have been complaining about alleged rape cases and abuse. The safety of students is not guaranteed because of the inconducive environment. Cases have been opened, and some parents went to the school to resolve the issue, but the matter was swept under the carpet.”
