Limpopo man arrested for allegedly killing partner, raping stepdaughter
Updated | By Selaki Ledwaba
Police in Bandelierkop, Limpopo, arrested a 33-year-old man on Monday for the murder of his partner and the rape of her 16-year-old step-daughter.
According to police reports, the suspect allegedly instructed the 16-year-old to search for her mother, who went missing on Saturday.
The suspect directed the girl to neighbouring bushes where he raped her and sent her back home.
The provincial police spokesperson, Malesela Ledwaba, said the victim immediately reported the rape to a community member who contacted police.
“During questioning on Monday, investigators discovered the suspect had murdered the missing woman and disposed of her body in a pit toilet at a local school,” said Ledwaba.
“The body was retrieved with assistance from relevant stakeholders, and the suspect now faces an additional charge of murder. This act of horrible crime represents the worst of gender-based violence - a man who was supposed to protect this family instead became their worst nightmare.“
Ledwaba confirmed the suspect was in police custody.
He is expected to appear in court soon.
